Zachar Bay Wilderness Lodge Kodiak Island Alaska Fishing and Wildlife

Lodge & Accommodation

Our quaint, historic property...

Zachar Bay Lodge was established in 1989 by longtime Kodiak residents Marty and Linda Eaton as a wilderness destination for fishing and wildlife viewing adventures. We have lived in Kodiak for many years, and we would like to share the beauty of the Alaska's Emerald Isle with you.

You may find yourself in the deep Alaskan wilderness when you arrive at Zachar Bay, but our accommodations are that of a charming and well-kept resort. Zachar Bay Lodge has four primary buildings used for the summer fishing and wildlife viewing season. Each building provides lodging for our summertime guests, including private rooms with their own bathrooms.

No matter where you find yourself at Zachar Bay Lodge, you’ll find yourself at home. All rooms provide the rustic and outdoor setting you expect to find at a wilderness lodge while simultaneously giving you the privacy, cleanliness, and facilities you want from a resort. Enjoy a slice of private Alaskan paradise whether you’re up the hill at the Pisces and Bay Houses, down by the water in the Dining Hall, or nestled against a pond in the Animal House. Most rooms are available for reconfiguration of the beds, so don’t hesitate to ask if you would prefer a king or a pair of twin beds for your stay. At Zachar Bay Lodge, enjoy the luxury of a hotel with the remoteness of camping.

Private rooms have clean sheets, blankets, pillowcases, and towels, and are cleaned daily by the maid service. Laundry facilities are on site and laundering services are provided upon request. Special dietary requests are also provided for if an advance notice given. Electricity is turned off at night, but an inverter and battery is available for guests needing electricity after hours. Cell phones do not work at Zachar Bay Lodge, but limited Internet access is available in the Dining Hall.

"I researched places in Alaska on the internet for a long time. It (Zachar Bay) was my favorite. Now that I've been there, it's definitely my favorite!"
 ~Rudy J Ramirez, Jr.

Setting

Sitting on 7 acres of private land surrounded by the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. only accessible by floatplane or boat,, Zachar Bay is truly a gem in the wilderness. Our deep-water dock and beachfront location is truly something spectacular to experience.
